Clinical Director Kelly Kay Wynn is a licensed therapist, life and resilience coach, and personal growth educator with 20 years of experience. She lives and works from the empowering belief, “It’s not what happens to you, it’s how you handle it.” Unfortunately, healthy coping skills are not universally taught. Without knowing how to address life’s challenges in a skillful way, many people struggle with anxiety and depression, addictions and workplace stress, relationship issues and chronic feelings of never being good enough. Kelly Kay has a passion for helping her clients:
- improve their coping strategies
- create powerful, but manageable, change
- develop strength, purpose and meaning as they work through various life challenges
Kelly Kay utilizes the Internal Mirror model to help her clients observe their own internal processes with the clarity and precision of an x-ray. This model reveals underlying (and often unconscious) motivations that shape behavior and may reinforce self-defeating habits of thinking, feeling and doing. Greater personal awareness facilitates profound change. Kelly Kay also utilizes the Internal Mirror in her work with couples. She often reminds couples: You ultimately can’t “fix” or control your partner, but you can take greater responsibility for your own life situation. Genuine, lasting transformation begins with honest self-reflection.
Kelly Kay graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine. She holds two graduate degrees: a Master’s in Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a Master’s in Social Work from UCLA. Kelly Kay prioritizes work-life balance as she manages her demanding roles as mental health professional, wife and mother of a special needs child. Among her many areas of specialty:
- Resilience and coping
