Meri Rule is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. She treats children and adults, individuals and couples. Among her areas of specialty:
- addiction (chemical and non-chemical)
- grief, trauma and PTSD
- career stress and dissatisfaction
- OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
- gender issues
Meri utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques, thoughtfully customizing her approach to suit the client’s needs, goals and personality style. She incorporates CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Solution Focused, psychodynamic and family systems treatment strategies. A performing musician, Meri also uses Art and Music therapies where appropriate. Her treatment style is warm and empathic with a dose of humor. Supportive and non-judgmental, Meri works at the client’s pace, providing positivity, structure and constructive feedback.
Meri holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, and is currently working toward a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Experimental Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to her LPC-S and LCDC licenses, Meri is also licensed as an Auricular Acupuncture Specialist. (Auricular Acupuncture is used to treat chemical withdrawal, anxiety, depression, pain management, trauma and grief.)
