Teen Counseling in Dallas

The teen years can be highly challenging transitional years. Teens often want more independence, yet still rely on their parents, teachers and other adults for support. A teen therapist helps teens recognize their issues and explore new strategies for dealing with the stress of growing up.

Clients choose our nationally recognized practice because they want an experienced therapist who will listen actively and compassionately, offering emotional support and heartfelt encouragement as each unique individual confronts life challenges.

The entire family suffers when one of its members suffers or is "out of sync." It is difficult to treat adolescent problems and family issues without also addressing problems that likely underlie the supporting family structure.

Teen and Family Counseling Information

First Session

Dallas Teen Counseling Specialists

Teen counseling often involves some degree of family counseling as well. For your initial appointment, we suggest the parents meet with therapist to provide an overview of the issue. The teen is welcome to attend this session, but is not required to do so. In this initial meeting, the therapist will discuss a treatment plan moving forward, which will center on the teen, but may incorporate meetings with the parents or entire family as needed. Our teen and family specialists emphasize genuine respect, patience and compassion when working with their clients, treating them as "whole persons" rather than just a list of symptoms on a chart.

Cost

Teen/Family Therapy Sessions: $150

We do offer both in-network and out-of-network counseling. If you have Blue Cross/Blue Shield or Medicare Part B, your in-network benefits will apply, and you are only responsible for your copay at the time of service. Otherwise, your out-of-network benefits will apply.

Michael Bollin - Dallas Whole Life Counseling - Staff

Michael Bollin, MA, LPC
"The teenage years provide both an obstacle and an opportunity for teens and parents. Teens are motivated to discover their own identity, yet yearn for a sense of belonging within the family and surrounding community. This is an obstacle if the teen and parents are not sure how to navigate these emerging needs and desires. But for teens and families equipped to understand this essential stage of development, this is an opportunity for profound growth and new connections."

A family therapist does not criticize, blame, or take sides during family therapy. The therapist helps the family become more aware of subtle dynamics that may be the source of persistent tensions and power struggles.
