The mind is nothing but thoughts.
Strong thoughts become actions; repeated actions become habits; and habits become character.
–Mata Amritanandamayi
Profound, lasting positive change begins with positive thought.
People often fail to make concrete, measurable improvements in their lives because they address the external, but neglect the internal. It’s difficult to initiate and/or sustain positive actions without attending to your state of mind.
Are you dissatisfied with your romantic partner? Set aside five minutes daily to do nothing but generate positive thoughts about your partner. Actively, intentionally cultivate gratitude, compassion, kindness. Or if this doesn’t work for you, generate positive thoughts about moving on from that relationship, about finding a more satisfying match.
Are you frustrated with your job? Set aside five minutes daily to do nothing but generate positive thoughts about your co-workers, your boss, your daily work tasks. Or generate positive thoughts about a new job, a new work environment you would like to pursue.
Habitually complaining and nurturing resentment casts you in the role of the victim. Taking charge of your own mind, reminds you of the dynamic, creative role you play in your own day-to-day experience.
