Tami Guttman is a licensed professional counselor associate who is passionate about helping people improve their lives. Renowned for her heartfelt empathy and unwavering commitment, Tami delves deeply into understanding the roots of her clients’ problems. She uses a variety of evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and grounding strategies.
Tami firmly believes in finding the right treatment fit for each individual. She ensures that her clients are on the right track to healing their emotional wounds, tackling any mental health challenges, and living their best lives. Tami’s unique background—both personal and professional—equips her to assist with the addiction cycle, childhood trauma, divorce, grief, loss, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety, and depression.
She is committed to providing precise and tangible direction where needed, while listening closely, and withholding judgment. She avoids generic clichés and one-size-fits-all methods. Instead, she is open and honest with her clients, while addressing their core assumptions and entrenched behaviors.
Tami utilizes a range of treatment methods, as she understands that not everyone responds equally to the same approach. Many clients benefit from CBT’s systematic, goal-oriented techniques to examine unwanted habits of thinking, feeling, and doing. She incorporates the latest mindfulness practices when appropriate, providing clients with solid “take home” strategies to navigate their daily lives. Some clients benefit from a family systems or psychodynamic framework, focusing on how past relationship patterns may limit their present experiences.
Tami welcomes direct feedback from her clients, as she believes the therapy process is unique to each person and should be regularly re-evaluated by both therapist and client as treatment progresses. Tami treats patients for various issues but primarily specializes in addiction, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
