People seek counseling for a wide range of issues but the most common that we see are for depression and anxiety. Those are really, really common issues in our society today and we’re becoming more and more aware of that. People are more likely to seek individual counseling now than they ever have. At the same time, other issues like relationship – how do you interact socially, how are things going on at work, are you actualizing your career potential – those are all very valid reasons to seek individualized counseling as well.
The Russian philosopher Gurdjieff said, “The first step in breaking out of prison is recognizing that you’re in prison.” To some degree this is what individual counseling helps clarify. It helps clarify where you’re stuck in your life, be that in your career, your relationships, anxiety, etc. So, the therapist works with you to evaluate and help bring your awareness to where your stuck in life and then the therapist helps you set realistic goals in moving forward so they become a sounding board yes, but they also become someone that helps you become accountable as you set realistic goals for yourself and moving forward.
When you’re ready to get started with individual counseling you can simply contact our administrative staff. The administrative staff will gather the particular issues that you’re working on. They will ask you questions if you’d prefer to work with a male or female therapist, a Christian or non-Christian counselor, etc. So, they’re going to try to match you with a specialist that is best suited to the issues that you’re working on and they’ll certainly going to match you within the time frame that you are available with a therapist that is also available in that time frame.
You can also look on our website for the bios for the individual therapists and if you want to call in and request a therapist that’s fine as well and as long as they’re available we can match you up that way.
