You dream you’re a mouse in a maze. You turn this way, that way, this way, that way, but you never find the cheese. Or if you do find the cheese, it’s dissatisfying. Why? Because it’s dream cheese. It doesn’t really matter if the mouse “solves” this puzzle. To say it differently, the only true solution is this: to wake up.
Are some area of your life not working out quite right? Your relationship, your career, your health. Do you feel you try this thing then that thing, but nothing works–not for long anyway? Maybe you’re like the mouse. You’re running around desperately trying to make things work, but you’re missing the most essential piece of information: You are asleep. Maybe you’ve been on autopilot for so long you’ve forgotten what it’s like to really meet your life head-on. Waking up to your life means taking more responsibility for the various “mazes” you find yourself in. Small life tweaks often do the trick, but sometimes a Big Profound Change is needed.
So how do you know the difference? Do you require a small tweak or a big push? You’re the only true expert when it comes to living your life, so only you can answer that question. But ask yourself this: Is there a reason you might fear waking up right now? Is there some new, unfamiliar direction your life may take? Do you fear letting go your secure tether and free floating into space? Where there is fear, there is opportunity for change.
